Pre-Departure Reflections
I am extremely excited for my upcoming home-stay in France. I am expecting to have a very fulfilling experience and greatly improve my French to a point where I am encroaching on fluency. I also hope that this will be a rewarding cultural experience, as it is my first voyage outside of the United States. I am also excited to see the beautiful country (or so I've heard) of France and experience the cultural differences from the US. I find the idea that I'm staying with a family very interesting because most of my time will be spent in everyday life activities. I hope that I will connect with the family members and with my roommate to create lasting friendships and connections. My elective choice, French conversations and culture will be intriguing because I have never spoken French before in a conversational setting, so it may prove to be quite a challenge. However, I am prepared to learn what I have to learn in order to make this a successful and enjoyable experience.
